Here are answers to commonly asked questions regarding our professional proofreading and editing services. Contact us if you have any other questions regarding our scientific and medical editing and writing services!
Will you really edit a sample for free?
Yes! We are happy to provide a complimentary edit up to 350 words, and we will provide all applicable services available in our full service. Free edits are limited to one sample per author per year. Your edited sample will be returned within 5 business days.
Who is actually editing my document?
All edits are performed by our chief medical editor, Phoebe Chi, MD.
Your document is our number one focus. Your draft receives diligent care and attention because our reputation depends on your success.
What if I want something changed after it is already edited?
We offer unlimited edits until you are satisfied with the content! If you disagree with any corrections or suggestions and would like us to perform an additional edit, please add your own comments using the “Track Changes” tool and return the document to us via email. We will provide another round of revisions at no additional charge, taking your new comments or changes into account.
Can I choose what kind of English I want?
Yes, definitely! You can indicate your preference for American, British, or Australian English. If you don’t specify your preference, we will follow the style of English you currently use. If we have any questions about this, we will contact you.
What is included in the total word count?
Order prices are based on total word count of materials to be edited. The total word count includes the title, abstract, main text, headings and subheadings, tables and table titles, figure legends, figures primarily composed of text (flow charts, algorithms, etc), and references. Total word count will also include the submission cover letter to the journal editor, if the author wishes for the cover letter to be edited.
Conflict of interest statements, funding declarations, author names and affiliations, and corresponding author information are NOT included in the total word count for editing purposes.
Why do you include plagiarism detection?
There are many details to keep track of when drafting a manuscript, and it has happened more than once that an author has meant to attribute an external source in the manuscript but inadvertently left the citation out for one reason or another. We can catch these inadvertent mistakes before you submit your manuscript to journal editors and prevent any potentially embarrassing or damaging notions of misconduct on your behalf.
Can you guarantee my manuscript will be accepted?
We are aware that other editorial services offer some form of guarantee. Please read the fine print on any editorial service guarantee you see. The fact remains that the decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests solely with journal editors. While we are confident in our services and we will do whatever we can to make sure you are satisfied with your experience at Elite Manuscripts, we cannot guarantee the publication of your edited manuscripts.
What types of files do you accept?
We can accept .doc, .docx, .ppt, and .pptx. For figures, tables, and graphs, we can also accept .pdfs if necessary.
I would like to work for you as a medical editor. Are you hiring?
Unfortunately, at this time we are not hiring medical editors. If you are interested in working for us, you may send us your resume and CV (via an email to firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will keep you in mind should the need arise to expand our staff.
